NIKE ZOOM FREAK 5 BREAKDOWN
2023-04-30

Being among the top picks across all basketball leagues in the world, the Nike Zoom Freak 4 is no doubt the most successful iteration in the whole Freak lineup. However, it's time for the ongoing model to pass the torch to the new generation - Nike Zoom Freak 5.
The very first leak of Greek Freak's 5th signature model was not welcomed warmly by the fans as the shoe featured quite a bizarre color combination. Fortunately, we have a closer look at a follow-up colorway - "Made in Sepolia" that pays homage to Giannis' hometown Sepolia located in Greece. And it might be something to be appreciated by the majority.
Followed by a $10 price jump, the all-black upper features a more premium-looking textile material decorated with a geometrical pattern on the lateral side. While spreading from the heel to medial side and eyelet section we see heavy usage of synthetic leather finished in primary color and a touch of vibrant purple in the back.
Sticking to its roots, the Freak 5 once again goes with an oversized lime swoosh which extends onto the midsole for that two-tone look and added lateral containment. Furthermore, the midsole section of the swoosh has Giannis' logo engravings.
Under the foot, the updated sole structure ditched out the dual Zoom Air pod setup, as it's yet unclear the type of cushioning system is used for the upcoming silhouette. However, the "Air Zoom" badge on the side may indicate the very first entry of the Zoom Air Strobel in the Freak lineup. Meanwhile, the bottom is dominated by an upscaled triangle pattern in the heel, which smoothly transforms into a whole army of Giannis' logos finished in vibrant marble aesthetics.
As of now, release details for Antetokounmpo's fifth signature shoe has yet to be unveiled.
